THE IMPACT OF LOAD SHEDDING ON YOUR SECURITY SYSTEM AND YOUR SAFETY
Eskom’s announcement regarding load shedding for months to come has implications on your security system and by implication, your family’s safety and security.
Where does my alarm get its power from?
Typically, alarm systems draw their power directly from the battery which is in turn, kept charged by the electricity feed. The battery capacity may not always be adequate to cater for extended power outages and or the power supply used to charge the battery may not be adequate to recharge the battery fully between outages.
Why does my alarm go off when the power comes back on?
Another implication of load shedding is that batteries running flat can cause some alarm systems to cause false activations to be sent to the Monitoring Centre which negatively impacts on service delivery.
How do I keep the alarm on even when the electricity is off?
To ensure your family and home are protected during power outages additional battery capacity and charging capacity may be required so talk to your security company to get the best advice. Alternatively, call Beagle Watch on 011 678 1972. Their load shedding solution costs R2600 including VAT and installation.
