THE AIIWE AREA’S ENHANCED BASKET OF SECURITY SERVICES
In early 2018, the AIIWE committee negotiated the following security services with Beagle Watch through a Service Level Agreement (SLA ):
24/7 CAMERA SURVEILLANCE
A network of 163 digital cameras; 57 license plate recognition (LPR) cameras at suburb entry points and 12 thermal cameras along the green belt all of which are monitored 24/7 to keep AIIWE residents safe
ON THE GROUND
- 6 patrol cars, i.e. one dedicated vehicle for each of 6 formally demarcated geographical zones within the AIIWE areas;
- 42 security officers dedicated to the AIIWE suburbs
- 1 dedicated tactical strike team with specially trained officers and an additional vehicle providing 24/7 services
- 1 unmarked patrol vehicle that services the entire AIIWE area;
- 1 full-time AIIWE area tactical manager, who is a former senior police detective with extensive experience to oversee the AIIWE security services
- 1 environmental team consisting of a vehicle and 2 staff to deal with ad hoc suburb greening and aesthetic issues
AIIWE AREA TACTICAL MANAGER
De Villiers (Div) van Dyk is the full-time area manager of the AIIWE precinct, and oversees the basket of security services contracted with Beagle Watch under the AIIWE Service Level Agreement. As part of his oversight, Div liaises regularly with Bramley police management in respect of investigations, crime updates and general security issues for our area, and interfaces with the AIIWE sectoral CPF. Div has 23 years’ experience in the field of law enforcement, military training, investigations, crime prevention and security management and was with SAPS for 18 years as a senior police detective and crime scene manager.
